AZERI FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS LIBYAN PREMIER
Visiting Libya Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met Thursday with the country`s Secretary of the General People`s Committee (prime minister) al-Baghdadi Ali al Mahmudi.
They stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in educational, health and tourism fields.
The sides agreed to set up intergovernmental commissions to investigate opportunities for making mutual investments and eliminating double taxation.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met with chief of Libyan National Oil Company Shukru Mohammad Ganym to discuss development of energy cooperation.
FM Mammadyarov and president of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev informed him on Azerbaijan’s energy potential, its oil and gas industry, and participation in transnational projects.
Abdullayev said during the Soviet era, Azerbaijani specialists contributed to development of oil industry of various countries, including Libya.
He went on to say that SOCAR is interested in Libyan oil sector.
Ganym praised Azerbaijan`s energy potential, and proposed to organize reciprocal visits to define opportunuties for future cooperation.
