AZERI FOREIGN MINISTRY SENDS NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a note to international organizations over Armenia’s setting up polling stations and organizing the voting in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied regions of Azerbaijan during recent Armenian presidential elections.
Araz Azimov, Azeri deputy FM, the President`s special representative for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said “Armenia`s leadership is using Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, who are Azerbaijani citizens, for their own interests, and is holding illegal elections there”.
Azimov stressed it is important that international organizations make efforts towards preventing such acts.
In the note, the Foreign Ministry calls on the international organizations to thoroughly investigate Armenia`s “illegal acts” and reflect the issue in international reports.
Araz Azimov said the talks on Nagorno-Karabakh will be continued after results of the Armenian presidential elections are officially announced.
“It is too early to speak about organizing a meeting with the Armenian president. Holding such meetings requires relevant conditions”.
The Azeri deputy FM said he believes Armenia will make a right choice, and that it must realize the impossibility of rejecting neighborhood with Azerbaijan.
He also touched upon the fact that representatives of the separatist regime in Nagorno-Karabakh were invited to discussions over conflicts in CIS to be held at the Russian State Duma next month.
Azimov said official Baku will make every political and diplomatic effort to prevent it.
Azerbaijan’s embassy in Moscow will deal with the issue, while the Milli Majlis plans to send a note to the Russian Duma.
