AZERI MPs ATTENDING OSCE PA WINTER SESSION
Vice-Speaker of Azerbaijan`s Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Bahar Muradova and her accompanying delegation are attending OSCE Parliamentary Assembly`s winter session started Thursday in Vienna.
Within the framework of the session the Azeri delegation held several interparliamentary meetings.
On February 20, Muradova met with Vice-President of Slovakia`s Parliament Anna Belousovova to discuss development of economic, cultural and tourism relations, and to explore opportunities for expansion of interparliamentary relations between the two states.
The sides also exchanged views on strengthening relations between working groups in both countries` parliaments.
Belousovova stressed her country supports Azerbaijan`s stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
On February 21, Muradova met with Deputy Speaker of Austrian Parliament Michael Spindelegger. They both said Austria-Azerbaijan relations are on high level, and spoke on cooperation opportunities in energy projects, non-oil sector, as well as discussed expansion of ties between the two states` parliaments.
Muradova also spoke on high-speed economic growth in Azerbaijan over last few years and said the country is a leader in realizing regional transnational projects.
She underlined Azerbaijan has enough gas resources for NABUCCO gas project`s being fully operational.
Muradova praised the opening of Austrian OMV Energy Company`s Azerbaijan office and expressed assurance Austria will join energy projects underway in Azerbaijan.
She also touched on absence of the Austrian embassy in Azerbaijan and expressed hope Austrian parliamentarians will make a contribution to positive settlement of the issue.
On the same day, the Azeri delegation met with head of Austria-Caucasus and Middle Asia working group Karl Ollinger to discuss development of relations between the working groups of the two states. Muradova invited members of the working group to visit Azerbaijan to attend a ceremony on the 90th anniversary of Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan.
Ollinger recalled his Azerbaijan trip during presidential election in 2003 and expressed wish to visit the country again.
Muradova presented members of the working group with books featuring Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan.
