Baku marks 20th anniversary of establishment of Azerbaijan-Georgia diplomatic ties
Baku, December 18 (AZERTAC). The Embassy of Georgia on Tuesday hosted a reception marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Addressing the event, Vice-Speaker of Georgian Parliament Zurab Abashidze spoke of the history of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Touching upon the Azerbaijan-Georgia cooperation, Zurab Abashidze noted that the two countries had historical friendly relations.
He underlined the great role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the strengthening of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
“Azerbaijan`s election as a non-permanent member to the UN Security Council is a great success for the country`s diplomacy”.
Delivering a speech at the reception, Azerbaijani Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov said relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia were successfully developing in all fields.
Ziya Mammadov said the two countries had always supported each other`s stance within international organizations and noted that the reciprocal visits of the two countries` presidents contribute to developing and strengthening the bilateral ties.
Mammadov praised the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia, saying it amounted to $ 450 billion over the past 11 months of the current year.
