BARMEK TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO BAKU OUTSKIRTS AND SUMGAIT
Baku outskirts Kurdakhanli, Mashtagi, Pirshagi, Zabrat and the city of Sumgait will be supplied with electricity in full measure, Chief of the Barmek-Azerbaijan PR office Tanriverdi Mustafayev told AzerTAj correspondent. Because of the limits in electricity supply in these districts Barmek had announced an open tender for reconstruction of electricity supply system. 35 firms took part in the tender. 12 Azerbaijani firms were announced winners to reconstruct electric energy infrastructure of above-mentioned settlements in line with the world standards. T. Mustafayev reported on the $18,5 million to be invested in Baku and $7,5 million in Sumgait in accordance with the plan worked out by the government for Barmek-Azerbaijan. Whereas the preliminary agreement suggests investing $10 million in Baku and $5 million in Sumgait in 2004 Barmek management initiated to increase investments in order to facilitate the reconstruction.
T. Mustafayev noted that Barmek had been working for 2,5 years in Azerbaijan. The company is working over its new rules, which, in particular, implies to remove the electricity meters from the flats to hallways.
