Bishkek hosts first meeting of Heads of OTS Intellectual Property Institutions

The first meeting of the Heads of Intellectual Property Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in the capital city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The event brought together representatives of the OTS - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
In his opening remarks, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General, highlighted the historical importance of the meeting. He said intellectual property is the foundation of innovation, science, technology and industrial development in the Turkic world. Noting that Turkic nations have produced great thinkers throughout history, the OTS Secretary General drew attention to the fact that the Turkic world should not lag behind the global competition in the modern era when intellect, knowledge and innovations determine prosperity and competitiveness.
The initiative to establish the Turkic States Intellectual Property Organization was one of the key issues discussed during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a Joint Declaration in which parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in safeguarding and promoting intellectual property.
The participants agreed to convene the next – the 2nd Meeting of the Heads of Intellectual Property Institutions of the OTS in Azerbaijan.
