“BOOK AND CULTURE FESTIVAL” HELD IN ISTANBUL
The platform’s Chairman, People’s writer of Azerbaijan Anar touched in his opening remark upon the problems existing in the sphere of modern culture, literature, and drew the participants’ attention to a number of important social and political processes. Speaking of literary and cultural environment in Azerbaijan, he especially emphasized that by the Decree of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, necessary funds had been allotted to re-publish several works of the Azerbaijani and world classics in Latin script.
On the same day, the 75th jubilee of the renowned Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aytmatov was marked at the Culture Center named after Jamal Rashid Rey in Istanbul. Representative of over 20 countries including Azerbaijan took part in the event. Speakers extended to the writer their congratulations and best wishes; Chingiz Aytmatov expressed gratitude for the respect and sincerity.
Azerbaijani writer were awarded prizes of the “Dialog Eurasia” magazine and Beyuksheher municipality of Istanbul, and scholar Husamaddin Mammadov received special prize for the book “Azerbaijan” written in co-authorship with his Turkish colleague.
In addition, two stamps dedicated to people’s writers of Azerbaijan Anar and Elchin have been issued in Turkey.
