BORIS GRYZLOV VISITS RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN BAKU

The Russian State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov visited Tuesday a Russian Orthodox church in Azerbaijan`s capital, Baku, as part of his trip to the country.

Gryzlov was welcomed here by Head of Baku and All-Caspian Orthodox Eparchy father Alexander who informed him of the church`s history.

According to father Alexander, the cathedral was fully restored at the initiative of Azerbaijan`s nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and with the financial aid provided by the Azerbaijani-born Russian entrepreneur Aydin Gurbanov.

Boriz Gryzlov said Azerbaijan is the place where Russia`s largest diaspora in the CIS is concentrated.

The Duma Speaker donated an icon to the Cathedral.

Later the same day, Boris Gryzlov ended his Azerbaijani trip and headed to Moscow.
