Bottled “Olympic air” for sale
Baku, August 11 (AZERTAC). Some enterprising eBay users are offering empty plastic bottles, which they claim are filled with the atmosphere of the London Olympics.
Tourists from all over the world will be taking home photographs, Olympic T-shirts and just about anything else with the Olympic logo on them. But what about those who wanted to soak up the exhilarating atmosphere of the Games but never made it to any of the Olympic events? No sweat, plastic bottles, filled with air “collected at the entrance to the Olympic Park only days ago” are readily available on eBay. There is no way you can check this out of course, so all you have to do is take the seller`s words for granted. Just like everything else in London, the bottled Olympic atmosphere is pretty pricey with the bottles offered for almost £50 apiece. The offerings will end on the Games closing day, but those who are in a hurry can go for it right now - for 100 pounds. The offer has yet to attract any bids, though…
Or how about buying a bit of tissue used to wipe one of the seats at the Opening Ceremony?
The auctions are apparently following a precedent set by the Games` organizers themselves, who are selling off various items used during the Olympics. The Mary Poppins costume used during the Opening Ceremony has attracted a high bid of £255 with two days to go in the auction. The auction on a Hockey ball used in men`s gold medal game has a similar period to run and has attracted a bid of £335, whereas the netting used in the men`s gold medal volleball game is set to go for almost £2,000.
There is even memorabilia from the last London Olympics, held in 1948. One of the torches used in the relay has a starting price of £14,000, although no bids have yet been placed…
