CISM 1st World Football Cup wraps up in Baku
Baku, July 15 (AZERTAC). A solemn closing ceremony of the 1st World Football Cup of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) has today been held in Baku.
Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Safar Abiyev presented the cup to Iraq, the winner of the tournament.
In his remarks, the CISM President Hamad Kalkaba thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for supporting the tournament. He praised the championship as well organized.
The CISM President noted that the next host of the tournament would be announced soon.
Safar Abiyev hailed the tournament, which brought together teams from 16 countries, saying such events play a crucial role in bringing nations and people closer to each other.
The Azerbaijani Defence Minister also thanked Head of the State Ilham Aliyev for his attention and care to the country’s army and servicemen.
Safar Abiyev congratulated all the teams as well as the winner for the participation and wished them successes.
