COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF ESTONIAN DEFENSE FORCES ARRIVES IN BAKU
Commander-in-Chief of the Estonian Defense Forces Ants Laaneots arrived in Baku Thursday for a two-day visit.
Laaneots met with Azerbaiian`s Defense Minister Safar Abiyev first in private and then in an enhanced format to explore ways of boosting military cooperation.
During the talks, Abiyev expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between the two states.
He said Estonia`s experience as a NATO member is of great interest to Azerbaijan.
The Azeri Minister also touched upon the region`s current military and political situation, adding the major problem there is Armenia`s occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s territory.
He said Armenia has failed to fulfill the UN Security Council resolutions.
Safar Abiyev expressed regret over ineffective activity of the OSCE Minsk group which is playing the role of a mediator between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Abiyev stressed Azerbaijan will not make any concessions regarding its territorial integrity. He underlined “if Armenia continues delaying the peaceful settlement of the dispute, Azerbaijan will, by any means, liberate its occupied territories”.
Ants Laaneots restoration of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity is of great importance to Estonia, which considers the occupied territories as Azerbaijan`s integral part.
Earlier in the day, Ants Laaneots paid tribute to Azerbaijan`s nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan`s shahids who died for the independence and territorial integrity of the country.
