CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO GARA GARAYEV HELD IN ISTANBUL
Opening the conference advisor of the Boyuksheher municipality of Istanbul on cultural affairs, filmmaker Tofig Ismayilov noted that Gara Garayev was a great master holding worthy place in the history of the Azerbaijani, Turkic and world music. Musicologist Sevinj Rzayeva analyzed Azerbaijani composer’s creative work, his teacher’s activity and musical heritage. Fine arts specialist, professor Gulperi Refig pointed out to national characteristics of Gara Garayev’s music. Filmaker Ogtay Mirkasimov shared his memories on Gara Garayev and informed the audience of the documentary shot on the composer. Composer’s daughter Zuleikha Karayeva thanked the event organizers on behalf of her family.
Later, the conference participants watched the documentary “Gara Garayev” by Ogtay Mirkasimov. Photo exposition dedicated to Gara Garayev’s creativity was presented at the showroom of the Culture Center. At the cinema hall, visitors will also have a chance to watch some films music for which was composed by Gara Garayev.
