CONFIDENCE-BUILDING MEASURES IN ASIA HELD IN ALMATY

A sitting of Top-ranking Officials Committee was held in Almaty in the framework of the Confidence-building measures in Asia (CICA). Representatives of the meeting member states, countries-observes and international organizations attended the sitting, which was focused on strengthening of peace and stability in the member states, fight against terrorism, extremism and others issues.

The Confidence-building measures in Asia (CICA) had been initiated by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The fist summit of the meeting was held in Almaty, June 2002.

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Israel, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kirgizistan, Mongolia, Pakistan Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan are member states of the organization.

Malaysia, USA, Southern Korea, Japan and several international organizations attended the meeting in an observer capacity.
