Cristiano Ronaldo gets traffic stop death threats
Baku, May 7 (AZERTAC). A routine traffic stop got out of hand on Saturday after Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo refused to stop for police, a decision which saw him being showered with death threats by the fan of an opposing team.
The incident took place when police signalled for Ronaldo to pull over at Madrid`s Cuzco roundabout as part of a routine traffic stop, reported radio station Cadena Cope on Monday.
The Real Madrid forward was travelling with his model girlfriend Irina Shayk after Saturday`s match against Valladolid at the time.
Initially the footballer refused to hit the brakes but the traffic cop forced the issue by banging several times on Ronaldo`s Audi R8 with a torch.
Ronaldo then stopped the car and got of the car in an `irate` condition, according to witness reports.
Apparently he said to the policeman on duty: "Don`t you know who I am?"
The Real Madrid star then stirred things up further by refusing to show his papers, at which point the traffic cop asked him to open the boot of his car.
Onlookers had by now gathered at the scene. One of them — a fan of Real Madrid`s arch rivals Atlético de Madrid — then began yelling insults at Ronaldo.
The fan shouted that Real Madrid were going to final of the Copa del Rey (King`s Cup), which is set to be played between the two Madrid teams on May 17th.
He then screamed out death threats directed at Cristiano Ronaldo. Police arrested the man and he spent the night in a jail cell, reported Cadena Cope.
