DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS MARKO ZAKKERA
Greeted by defense minister of Azerbaijan, the guest said that Azerbaijan holds significant position in the South Caucasus.
Updating the guest on the history of Country’s independence, colonel-general, in particular, said: “Azerbaijan has gained and strengthened its independence in the war conditions against aggression of Armenia. Armenia has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and today does not leave its territorial claims under its patronages. Its goal is to annex the Nagorny Karabakh region of Azerbaijan to Armenia. Armenia has violated terms of the Treaty on Conventional Forces in Europe and keeps colossal armaments in the occupied territories.”
Then, the defense minister informed that in the occupied territories, the invader plants narcotics, train groups of terrorists. He said: “We are concerned that until now Armenia has not been recognized as aggressor state and imposed not any sanctions. This encourages the occupant for settlement of the conflict in its favor”.
Colonel-general Safar Abiyev also answered questions of Mr. Zakkera on the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, its international links, the existent military situation in the South Caucasus, on the links of Azerbaijan-NATO and other questions.
