FIRST LADY OF AZERBAIJAN TO BE APPOINTED UNESCO GOODWILL AMBASSADOR
In the message of the press-service further it is stated: “This honorary title is given to Mehriban Aliyeva as a token of estimation of her activity directed on propagation of traditional music, the literature and poetry, and also on improvement of music education and strengthening of the international cultural exchanges, support of youth.
The doctor by education, Mehriban Aliyeva, being devoted to the UNESCO ideals, shows in the country personal activity in the field of culture, education and sports. Organizing festivals, exhibitions, concerts and other cultural actions by means of created by her in 1995 of Fund of the Friends of the Azerbaijan Culture, she brings great contribution to recognition internationally rich culture of the country, including the folk-lore and non-material heritage, in their protection at the national and regional level.
Mother of three children of Mehriban Aliyeva pays special attention and to children's problems. Due to her efforts and charities in one of the districts Baku the house for children has been repaired and modernized, open a musical school for deprived children, conducted treatment of children, suffering from diabetes. At last, as the president of Federation of Gymnastics of Azerbaijan, she brings contribution to development of sports in the country.
Goodwill Ambassadors are persons, who, due to own authority and charisma bring contribution to realization of ideals of UNESCO.
