FM MAMMADYAROV MEETS OSCE CHIEF KANERVA
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Thursday with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva.
Kanerva said his organization places particular emphasis on the regional security, and stressed solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is high priority for OSCE.
Mammadyarov stressed conflicts in the region pose a serious threat for both the region itself and Europe.
The Azeri Minister said settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute must be based only on international legal norms and the principle of territorial integrity of countries.
Mammadyarov noted Armenia must recognize his country`s territorial integrity and acknowledge that Nagorno-Karabakh territory is an integral part of Azerbaijan.
Following the conversation, Elmar Mammadyarov and Ilkka Kanerva gave a joint press conference.
Mammadyarov said they discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and democratic situation in the country.
The Minister stressed Kanerva stated that the dispute must be solved based on the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Elmar Mammadyarov said his country will fulfill all democratic development-related commitments to European structures.
Ilkka Kanerva said the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe supports Azerbaijan`s conducting democratic reforms.
