French media writes about Days of Azerbaijan in Colmar
Paris, February 22 (AZERTAC). A daily newspaper of the Alsace region “L`Alsace” has published an article on the event “Days of Azerbaijan” held in Colmar on February 21.
The article entitled “Azerbaijan unites French regions” focused on the event “Days of Azerbaijan”, which is a part of the project "Cultural values of Azerbaijan as pearl of Caucasus" organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan`s embassy in France aiming to familiarize the French people with Azerbaijan.
Highlighting the project "Cultural values of Azerbaijan as pearl of Caucasus", the author says under this initiative, started in late 2012, the Foundation and the embassy held various events in different cities of France.
The newspaper also touched upon ambassador Elchin Amirbayov`s thoughts about the events to promote Azerbaijani culture and cultural heritage in France.
The ambassador said alongside with oil and gas industry, non-oil sectors, including tourism, agriculture and information technologies have developed in the country. On Azerbaijan-France relationship, the diplomat said his country attaches great significance to cooperation with official Paris in all spheres. Amirbayov noted Azerbaijan is also interested in cooperation with France`s Aktien, Burgundy and Alsace regions on grape growing and wine making industries. “Azerbaijan is keen on a joint wine production with France”, the diplomat said.
Amirbayov`s views on creating sister cities relationship between Azerbaijan and France were also touched in the article.
Giving general information about the country, the article notes “Azerbaijan is located at the junction of civilizations and cultures. The country enjoys its rich national, historical and cultural values. Peoples of different cultures, ethnicities and religions had co-existed in peace and harmony in Azerbaijan for centuries”.
The author also hailed concert programs within “Days of Azerbaijan”, as well as Azerbaijan`s traditional music - mugham, saying “Mugham was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2003”.
On exhibitions organized in Colmar and other cities of France, the article stressed that exhibits, including carpets, samples of copper and pottery products, music instruments talking of Azerbaijan`s history, culture and tourism opportunities characterize the country`s ancient and rich history.
The French publication praised the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s funding reconstruction of Strasbourg Cathedral de Notre-Dame in 2009.
The article informed that 120 families live in Mulhouse, while 15 families in Colmar.
The newspaper posted pictures reflecting the exhibition and concerts.
