Georgian archers scrape past Great Britain
Baku, June 17, AZERTAC
Georgia were made to work hard against Great Britain in the women's team 1/8 elimination at the Tofiq Bahramov stadium, needing a 10 on the final arrow to take the match 5-3 and proceed to a quarter-final match against Ukraine.
Khatuna Narimanidze, who had the task of scoring a maximum with the final arrow of the match, said: "My heart was pounding and my legs were shaking. I still cannot talk about it but what matters is the win."
Her husband and coach Tamaz Putkaradze, who talked to his wife before the final shot, said: "I told her she was only allowed to hit the yellow. I joked that I wouldn't feed her for a month if she didn't. "
Belarus survived a tense match against Spain, and will face Germany in the next round, while Italy will play Denmark, and France take on Russia.
