The motorcade of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania came under fire on the road bypassing Tskhinvali - the administrative center of South Ossetia - on Friday morning. No one was hurt, Georgian Conflicts Settlement Minister Georgy Khaindrava has told the media.

Khaindrava, currently in Tskhinvali, said Zhvania and his entourage were on the way from the village of Tamarasheni (a suburb of Tskhinvali) to the village of Eredvi, approximately 6 kilometres north of the city, when shots were fired from positions held by South Ossetian armed groups.

There were no casualties. A short while later the motorcade proceeded towards Eredvi.
