Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting held in Beijing

The Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting kicked off in Beijing on July 12, focusing on the importance of cultural diversity and mutual learning in advancing human progress.
Themed “Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,” the two-day event has attracted over 600 guests from 140 countries and regions.
At the opening ceremony, a congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China and a congratulatory letter from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres were read out, and local and foreign guests delivered speeches.
At parallel sub-forums, participants explored the crucial role of inter-civilization exchange and mutual learning in building an inclusive world and promoting global development and prosperity, cultural inheritance and innovation, understanding and friendship among peoples, scientific and technological progress, and academic exchange.
Aytan Aliyeva, President of the “Great Silk Way” International Youth Union and PhD student at the University of Vienna, joined the event. In an interview with the China Youth Daily newspaper, she emphasized the need for peace and dialogue in the modern world, highlighting the crucial role of intercultural relations and mutual understanding among young people in achieving this goal.
Aliyeva shared insights into the rich cultural history of Karabakh, noting that the nightingale is a symbol of peace and tolerance for the Azerbaijani people.
