“GLOBALIZATION AND DIALOGUE BETWEEN CIVILIZATIONS” CONFERENCE UNDERWAY IN TBILISI
Speaking at the conference, President of Georgia Michael Saakashvili especially has emphasized urgency of the discussed theme, has stated that his country supports peace settlement of conflicts, peace between the nations and on the planet, and has expressed satisfaction with tolerance of Georgian people. He brought to the notice of participants of Conference the meeting taken place on September 29 in Tbilisi with chairman of Clerical Office of Moslems of the Caucasus Sheikh-Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
At the Conference, also speaking was the Catholikos - Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, the head of the national program of the Moscow branch of UNESCO on questions of culture Liubava Morevs, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, the co-chairman of organizing committee of the Conference, chairman of the Council of observers of the Black Sea International University Masud Bozkyr, chairman of Clerical Office of the Moslems of Caucasus the Sheikh Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh and others.
The Sheikh Ul-Islam has conveyed to participants of Conference kind wishes of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He has told: “We with the Patriarch adhere unanimous opinion that the peace in our region, interethnic and inter-religious cooperation, good neighborhood, refusal of policy of aggressive separatism are unique way to the happy future of the Caucasus. But in various places of planets including on the Caucasus, conflicts still proceed, innocent blood flows, many people have become intolerant and cruel. Unfortunately, not well being and progress, and terrorism and violence began distinctive attributes of XXI centuries. The most awful is that many regard it as the inevitable phenomenon occurring from opposition of civilizations and religions during globalization. We, religious figures, call on the peoples of good will to unite their efforts and to do the utmost to protect the human life being sacred gift of the Great Creator”.
The Conference will end on October 1.
