HEAD OF AZERBAIJANI COMMUNITY OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH MEETS OSCE CHIEF
Head of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh Nizami Bahmanov met Thursday with Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Finnish Foreign Minister Ilkka Kanerva, Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Bahmanov spoke on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and stressed Finland’s active involvement in the process of its settlement. He added, however, delay in the dispute`s resolution is making undesirable impact on the situation in the whole region.
Bahmanov noted the conflict must be settled only within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and stressed the country`s occupied territories today turned into an uncontrolled area for illegal activities.
He expressed assurance the OSCE Minsk Group will strengthen its efforts towards the settlement of the dispute.
Kanerva said the Minsk group is making consecutive efforts to find a lasting peaceful solution to the dispute between Armenian and Azerbaijan.
He added the Organization also pays special attention to the position of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh on the issue.
Kanerva said as the OSCE chairing country, Finland will increase its efforts towards the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The OSCE chief stressed the organization fully supports the negotiations within the Prague process.
