HOUSE-MUSEUM OF HAMIDA JAVANSHIR TO BE OPENED
Head of the regional Department of Culture Rza Guliyev told AzerTAj reporter that Hamida Khanum opened here the first woman’s school and weaving shop in 1907. She also was one of the founders and deputy Chairman of the Charitable Society of Caucasian Moslem-women functioned in 1908-1917. H. Javanshir also contributed to issuing the “Molla Nasraddin” magazine, for which she wrote articles related to woman’s liberation. She also issued biographies of her farther Ahmad bey Javanshir, the author of “On Political Situation in Garabakh Khanate (1747-1805)” and Jalil Mamadguluzadeh, Recollections of M.A. Sabir, as well as translated Azerbaijani writers into Russian.
According to him, the building in which the House Museum will be placed, has been overhauled under the support of the local executive power. At the moment we are engaged in collection of exhibits, and first of all count on old-timers who communicated with Hamida Khanum and Mirza Jalil family friends, R. Guliyev said.
The House-Museum is expected to be open next year.
