HUNGARIAN MEDIA COVERAGE ON AZERBAIJAN-HUNGARY RELATIONS
On the eve of Azerbaijan President’s visit to Hungary, the influential Hungarian newspaper “Nepszabadsaq” published an article titled “Nabukko will come with Aliyev”, whereby the author Atilla Seresh expressed hope that the two presidents would certainly discuss the energy questions, including the Nabukko gas main prospects.
In the coming years, Azerbaijan is expected to be the most important partner in the Nabukko gas main. The Republic of Azerbaijan has large gas deposits and many companies wish to cooperate with this country. The Hungarian oil company MOL could be an investor and business partner in the republic, the newspaper writes.
The author analyzes priorities of the alternative energy sources for Hungary, as well as its opportunities to be a transit country, because this status can bring notable proceeds to Hungary.
The “Electron INDEX” newspaper informs that Hungarian Premier has to negotiate with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The Republic of Azerbaijan on the Caspian with 2 trillion cubic meters of gas deposits may become major provider for the Nabukko gas main, the newspaper underlines.
According to the newspaper, “the most reliable and potential partner is Azerbaijan which is closer to the European Union. It is for the second time that the Hungarian Premier is meeting with the President of the country which struggles against threats and where the democratic rights were established. Earlier, the bilateral talks took place in Davos Economic Forum”.
The key goal of the Azerbaijan President’s visit is to seal the agreements on cooperation between the two countries in the economic, political and energy fields, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Hungary said.
