INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY UNDERWAY IN BAKU
A two-day international conference “Information-documentation supply of public administration bodies: current state and prospects” dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Department of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic took place at the library on Thursday.
Deputy Head of the Department Ogtay Shahbazov higly appreciated the fact Baku hosted such a significant international event in the era of formation and development of information society.
He said important work was being done to improve material and technical base and expand collection of local libraries.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev said the conference would play an important role in organizing an information exchange not only among libraries but also among countries and peoples. He described the fact that in the past two years, the President issued four executive orders aiming to develop libraries in the country as an evidence of significance the Head of State attaches to this area.
Director of the Presidential Library Mail Ahmadov said the goal of the conference was to exchange views on the issues concerning information society, the use of information technologies in libraries and the study of progressive experience in the field. He underlined that it would be a one more incentive to further develop libraries in Azerbaijan as well as would help strengthen the Presidential Library’s relationships with its colleagues from CIS countries.
The conference is attended by heads of presidential and parliament libraries, and renowned men of library science from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova.
