International dolma festival held in Khachmaz VIDEO

The 2nd International dolma festival took place in Azerbaijan’s Khachmaz district.
Organized by, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Khachmaz district executive authority, Azerbaijan’s National Cuisine Center and National Cuisine Association, the festival was joined by more than 500 participants from 12 countries and the country’s 50 regions.
350 different types of dolma was displayed at the festivel.
Mexico for the first time in Azerbaijan presented traditional dish Tamale.
There are more than 500 varieties of this dish. The word "tamal" comes from the Nahuatl word "tamally" and means "wrapped." Tamale is steamed or baked corn dough mixed or stuffed with some stew, which can be salty or sweet and wrapped in dry cob leaf, banana leaf or other leaves. The tamales originated in the pre-Hispanic time, when they were used in religious rituals.
The 1st International dolma festival had been held in Absheron on July 1, 2016.
