INT’L SEMINAR ON TOPIC “MASS MEDIA AND POLITICS”
Addressing the seminar organized by the Fund of Conrad Adenauer of Germany and public association “Khazar - the international movement “Partnership for Future”, head of the socio-political department of Administration of the President of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov has told: “The mass media and politics are directly connected with each other. Everyone politician undertakes any steps, taking into account public opinion, and by means of mass media leads up the opinion to the public. Through mass media he finds out the opinion generated about him in the society. His all-round popularization, transparent opinion on him also depends on professionalism of workers of mass media.
He has emphasized, that the last 10 years under the direction of our national leader Heydar Aliyev have been achieved great successes in construction of democratic society, political pluralism, freedom of press became an integral component of society. Functioning in Azerbaijan more than 350 printed and electronic mass media of a various orientation is evident to this.
Deputy head of representation of the Fund on the Central Asia, Kazakhstan and Caucasus Ms. Kathryn Drussner, the special representative of the Fund on the Caucasus David Afrasidze and others in detail spoke about experience of the various countries in the field of mutual relations of journalists and politicians, ways and means of their cooperation.
At the seminar, delivered were reports by a German tele-channel "2DF" Ms. Bet Schneider on the topic “Management of mass media: legal, economic and organizational bases”, the former employee of a tele-channel "NDR", jurist Peter Shivin on the topic “Efficient control demands transparency: mass media, as the fourth authority of democracy”, professor Jahangir Mammadli on the topic “Role of the state in realization of freedom of speech by means of mass media”, director of news agency ASSA-IRADA Fazil Abbasov on the topic “Activity of Press Council of Azerbaijan and standards of the European Union”, chief of department on international law and state law of foreign countries of BSU Rustam Mammadov on the topic “Mass-media as the fourth authority in society”.
