ITAR-TASS MARKS THE CENTURY ANNIVERSARY

One of the oldest news agencies of Russia, ITAR-TASS marks its century jubilee these days, correspondent of AzerTAj reports from Moscow. The information cable agency ITAR-TASS by the right can be related to one of the world's largest news agencies, capable to compete to the most known world agencies. Increasing greatly the century traditions, the ITAR-TASS today has a wide network all over the world, and it has 130 branches and correspondent's offices in Russia, the CIS and abroad, is represented in 67 countries of the world and in the 50 largest regions of Russia.

It is necessary to note that this information cable agency during the whole century invariable keeps the official status of leading state news agency of Russia, remains the most authoritative source of the information.

Today, in the Agency are working hundreds highly skilled and professional journalists being an example of modern journalism with use of century traditions of this craft work.

The Agency every day releases more than 200 full formatted newspaper strips of the text information, more than 100 operative pictures and graphic representations. The ITAR-TASS offers nowadays 45 operative tapes, 6 of which - in the foreign languages, more than 20 thematic information packages under orders of clients, more than 20 bulletins, more than 10 periodic reference media, operative both archival photo-information and photo-services, the illustrated political weekly journal and a number of other production.

Today, the ITAR-TASS Agency receives congratulations from the public of Russia and other states. It has to be noted that the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, too, has directed to collective of the Agency congratulations and has wished it successes in the further work. In the congratulation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, it is marked, that the ITAR-TASS is one of leaders of world information space, a reliable source of the operative and versatile information.

Speaking on the jubilee of the Agency, its Director General Vitaly Ignatenko has told: “This date is the beginning, start for the new day. The century-old history of our Agency gives special weight to the TASS line which has passed through the Golden Age of Russian empire, revolution, war. Just it was the TASS that informed to the world on the first flight of man in space. For hundred years, it was generated certain TASS standard which means accuracy, balance and actuality of the information. And in today's daily work of the Agency, we are obliged to hold this standard”.
