Japanese NHK airs program on Azerbaijan
Tokyo, December 26 (AZERTAC). The Japanese NHK TV channel has telecast a show titled "Azerbaijan - energy-rich country located along the Caspian Sea".
The program said Azerbaijan has grown into the region`s leading country in recent years. Azerbaijan effectively used hydrocarbon resources to achieve tremendous successes. It says Azerbaijan plays an important role in the European energy security
It say Azerbaijan sitting at the crossroads of West, North and South has important geostrategic positions. The country gained more successes in comparison with other post-soviet nations.
NHK international reporter Ichiyo Ishikawa who has made several visits to Azerbaijan since 90s provided information about the country. He narrated on the Contract of the Century, construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. Ishikawa pointed out production of oil and gas gave an impetus to unprecedented development of the country.
He praised huge construction boom in the capital and regions of Azerbaijan.
Ishikawa noted Japanese companies are involved in energy projects in the region as well.
The Japanese journalist touched upon gas fields, highlighting the huge Shahdeniz field with the proven reserves of 2 trillion cubic meters.
After commissioning of the Shahdeniz field in 2017, gas will be exported to Turkey and European markets.
Ishikawa pointed out that despite some impediments, Azerbaijan pursues an independent policy and demonstrates a strong political will to realize these projects.
