KOSOVO IS NOT MODEL FOR CAUCASUS CONFLICTS
Peter Semneby, the EU`s special representative to the South Caucasus stated that it is not right to draw parallel between the conflict in Kosovo and Nagorno Karabakh or other existing conflicts. Each conflict has its peculiarities.
Expressing regret for long-term delay of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem despite the negotiations, Mr. Semneby said the lasting stability arouses hope.
Noting that he is against identification of the conflicts in the South Caucasus region with the conflict of Kosovo, the Special Representative said there are more differences than similarities between the two conflicts. These conflicts are not the same.
The OSCE Chairman-in-office, FM of Finland Ilkka Kanerva, in the frame of his visit to the United States, has appeared at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars and stated that the frozen conflicts would constantly be in focus of attention. He said Finland, as the OSCE Chairman, would make efforts to prevent, solve the conflicts and eliminate their sequences.
Mr. Ilkka Kanerva said they hope for peaceful settlement of the Transdniester, South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts.
