MINISTER OF FINANCE OF AZERBAIJAN TO HOLD IMPORTANT MEETINGS IN USA
As informed to AzerTAj from the press-service of the ministry, at the meeting of Mr. Alakbarov with vice-president of the World Bank on the region Shigu Katsu, director on the country Donna Koirolo, executive director Pietro Velio and director of Department of IMF on the Near East and Central Asia Mohsun Khan, senior adviser Lorentso Peres, adviser John Wakemann-Linn, and also Minister of Finance of Switzerland and other officials will discuss links of Azerbaijan with the World Bank and the IMF, work done in this area and directions of the further cooperation.
And on October 5, there take place the regular 9th session of Working Group on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the USA. At the meeting, there will be the delegations headed by the co-chairman of Working Group on Azerbaijan, Minister of Finance Avaz Alakbarov and the co-chairman on the USA Tom Adams.
At the session, discussed will be issues of macroeconomic situation, reforms in financial - bank sector, diversification of economy, reforms in power sector, parameters of Corporation of challenges of Millennium for 2005, and also the reforms conducted in Azerbaijan in the field of environment of investments, and programs of the help which will be allocated by the USA to Azerbaijan for 2005.
During the visit, also are expected the meetings of Minister of Finance with the president of Islamic Bank of Development Ahmed Mohammed Ali, the president of Bank of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Mustafa Gurtin. Director of Deutsche-bank Alexander Lomakin and executive director George Bongarth, and also his participation in session of the Ministers of Finance and economic development of Organization of Economic Cooperation member-countries.
