MONUMENT OF NIZAMI GANJAVI ERECTED IN CHEBOKSARI
Author of the sculpture is the renowned Azerbaijani sculptor Omar Eldarov.
The public of Cheboksari attended the opening ceremony. Azerbaijan delegation was led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia Ramiz Rizayev. Representatives of the State Committee on work with Azerbaijanis residing abroad also arrived from Baku.
Addressing the participants, Ambassador Ramiz Rizayev on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev and people of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude to the President of Chuvash Republic Nikolay Fedorov and leadership of the administration of Cheboksari for support of the initiative on erection of the monument.
Head of the administration Nikolay Yemelyanov noted that the poetic heritage of Nizami is widely known in Chuvash Republic. Yemelyanov highly appreciated activity of Azerbaijan Diaspora in Chuvash Republic.
It should be reminded that it is the third monument of Nizami Ganjavi in the Russia Federation; the first was erected in Moscow, in front of Azerbaijan Embassy to Russia, the second one in Saint Petersburg with the participation of the national leader President Heydar Aliyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
