Baku, February 25, AZERTAC
On February 25, Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), met with Turkish delegation led by Kürşad Zorlu, Member of Parliament and Deputy Chair of the Executive Board of Türkiye’s ruling party (AK Party).
The delegation is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in an event marking the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.
During the meeting, the parties lauded the unbreakable friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye —widely regarded as a model for the entire world— which have been flourished under the purposeful leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reaching a new and higher level of strategic alliance.
The sides hailed the fact that the two nations continue to stand firmly by each other, highlighting the significance of fulfilling commitments under the Shusha Declaration in strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing diverse regional cooperation.
Special emphasis was placed on the significance of the two allied states—recognized internationally for their independent policies rooted in national interests and international law—actively backing each another on the global stage to advance shared strategic goals.
The sides also commended Azerbaijan’s and Türkiye’s joint initiatives, which support regional peace and security, describing their unity as a stabilizing factor across a broader geography, including the Turkic world.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening inter-party ties to advance relations among Turkic states, especially between Azerbaijan and Türkiye as reliable strategic allies. The sides noted the successful implementation of the June 2, 2021 Cooperation Protocol between YAP and the AK Party, also discussing shared goals and future perspectives in light of current challenges.
Underscoring the significance of reciprocal visits in broadening the exchange of ideas and experience between the parties, Kürşad Zorlu extended an invitation to representatives of the New Azerbaijan Party to participate in the first “Turkic World Diplomacy and Politics Forum” scheduled to take place in Türkiye later this year.
