NEW DRAFT “ON POLITICAL PARTIES” UNDERWAY

The current Law “On Political Parties” has been adopted in 1992 and does not respond requirements of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, head of the Azerbaijan Parliament’s Administration Safa Mirzoyev said.

Currently, studying international experience a new draft law “On Political Parties” is being prepared. Laws “On Political Parties” in the European countries provides for financing parties on government’s account. These principles will be reflected in the law “On Political Parties” to be adopted in Azerbaijan shortly. Finance criterion will be specified later, as in none of the world countries not all the political parties are financed. There are series of criterion to clarify the issue.

The new Draft will base on European models and is to be a fully democratic document.
