NEW THERMOELECTRIC STATION TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN NAKHCHIVAN

With the natural gas coming from Iran it was decided to construct a new thermoelectric power station in Nakhchivan, AzerTAj correspondent was told at the press office of Azerenergy.

While discussing the issue on construction specialists of energy sectors of both countries put forward the two proposals: the first one suggesting reconstruction of the 60 megawatt capacity outmoded gas turbine plant in Babek and switching it to gas basis, was rejected due to high costs. The second one implying the use of diesel fuel is also impossible because of delivery difficulties.

At the meeting of experts presided by first vice-premier Yagub Eyyubov as regards to the construction of the thermoelectric power station in Nakhchivan, it was decided to make necessary calculations and work out a concrete plan of actions. The station when constructed in the outskirts of Nakhchivan will provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the whole Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
