NEWS CONFERENCE OF DEFENSE MINISTRY HELD
Press Secretary of Azerbaijan Defense Ministry Lieutenant-Colonel Eldar Sabiroghlu held news conference at Ministry’s yesterday.
The Press Secretary spoke of recent violation of ceasefire regime by Armenians. He said military forces of Armenia have continuously violated ceasefire in various directions, including in Aghdam, Khojavand, Fizuli, Tartar, Tovuz, Goranboy, Jabrayil, Gazakh and Khanlar regions of Azerbaijan. The Lieutenant-Colonel stressed that in all cases the enemy was silenced after retaliation.
Mr. Sabiroghlu said three monitoring within the last two month were held on the troops contact line of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan Republic and the Republic of Armenia. He stated that during the monitoring the Armenian side observes the ceasefire regime, while after that, they start to break it again.
The Ministry’s official touched upon the skirmishes in the zone of Tartar on March 4. He stressed these fights have proved once more that the Azerbaijani army is efficiently strong. According to him, Armenians were forced back by sustaining serious losses.
The Press Secretary also spoke of the Ministry’s international cooperation, saying the Defense Ministry of Turkmenistan Army General Aghagaldi Mamedgaldiyev is expected to visit Azerbaijan to discuss various important issues, including the status of the Caspian Sea, regional security, and prospects of military cooperation. Besides, he said, top officers of the Turkish Armed Forces will also pay a visit to the country.
“Azerbaijan and Turkey are strategic partners. We have high-level military relationships with Turkey and this is of great importance for both countries”, Sabiroghlu underscored.
