Warmly greeting the guest, Speaker of Azerbaijan parliament Murtuz Alaskarov has emphasized, that relations of friendship and good neighborhood between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Islamic Republic of Iran develop on ascending, and has noted huge merits of the national leader of Azerbaijan people of Heydar Aliyev in adjustment of these links. Official visits of President Heydar Aliyev to Iran and the numerous documents signed during these visits have created a strong basis for development of the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations. Official visit of the former President of Iran Hashimi Rafsanjani to Azerbaijan also has played an important role in development of our relations, the Speaker said. Then chairman of Milli Majlis has informed on official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Mohammad Khatami to our country, carried out on August 5 this year on the invitation of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, about negotiations of the heads of state, the signed documents, meetings in Milli Majlis, has noted, that the said visit became a new stage in the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.
During conversation, the Chairman of parliament spoke about activity of the ambassador of Iran in Azerbaijan Ahad Gazai directed on development of the existing between Azerbaijan and Iran friendly relations, and has expressed him gratitude for the fruitful work which has been carried out within four years. The Chairman has told about development of inter-parliamentary connections between Azerbaijan and Iran last years, value of official visits of the parliamentary delegations headed by chairman of Milli Majlis to Iran in 1998 and 1999, highly has estimated activity of groups of friendship. Chairman of the Milli Majlis has invited delegation led by chairman of parliament of Iran to make visit to Azerbaijan.
The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in our country Ahad Gazai has expressed to Chairman of Milli Majlis gratitude for warm reception and the kind words told in his address and have stated that never would forget Azerbaijan. The ambassador has expressed hope that friendly relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic would develop and henceforth.
In conclusion, the Chairman of parliament Murtuz Alaskarov has wished to ambassador Ahad Gazai great successes in his further activity.
