New regional project on AIDS precautions among drug abusers and inmates were discussed on February 20 at the meeting of the Standing Commission on Social Policy of the Milli Majlis (MM) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Hadi Rajabli, Chairman of the Commission said the new regional project was developed within the framework of UN five-year project taking account urgency of the AIDS problem across the world, as well as in Azerbaijan.
He also noted Azerbaijani Parliament has adopted a number of laws on prevention of the AIDS and the country is a signatory of relevant international conventions.
The deputy added many drug abusers and inmates have received treatment from various diseases.
Highly assessing the new project, Azerbaijani parliamentarians noted it would have positive influence on the processes ongoing in the society.
It was decided to develop a new draft on AIDS precautions, as well as to make some amendments to the legislation regarding narcotic during the meeting.
The parliamentarians stressed that activity in this sphere is to be expanded within international organizations.
