357,3 apartments of total living space of 19 million square meters had been privatized in Azerbaijan by 1 October 2004 that makes 58,7 percent of those planned to be privatized. The privatization process in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Baku, Ganja, Mingachevir cities, Absheron, Oguz, Gusar, Gadabey, Gazakh, Khanlar, Shaki, Balaken, Barda, Khachmaz, Ujar provinces was more active. Privatization rates peaked in 1994-1998 as 56,8 percent of privatized buildings fell on this period. Population have privatized 10 thousand apartments with 590,4-thousand square meters living space, including 6,5 thousand apartments in Baku.
