During the first sitting of the Milli Majlis’ fall session on September, deputies proposed to pass the law concerning repayment of populations deposits left in savings banks.

Speaker Murtuz Alasgarov announced that people would begin to redeem their savings in 2005, and that the appropriate law would be passed during the Parliament’s 2004 fall session.

He noted that a rough calculation shows that the amount of deposits equal to that of the annual state budget, and therefore, cannot be repaid on a one-time basis. For this reason, according to him, the Ministry of Finance is now preparing a special schedule.
