PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV PARTAKES IN KIEV ENERGY SECURITY SUMMIT
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan participated Friday in the energy security summit in Kiev.
Also attending the meeting were Presidents Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine, Mikhail Saakashvili of Georgia, Valdas Adamkus of Lithuania, Lech Kaczynki of Poland, Toomas Hendrik Ilves of Estonia, European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs, US Department of State Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Boyden Gray as well as top officials and diplomats from over 30 countries.
The summit discussed feasibility study of the Eurasian oil transportation corridor project, establishment of the Baltic-Black-Caspian Seas energy transit union and other issues.
Ukrainian Leader Yushchenko said Kiev summit is a follow-up to the Krakow and Vilnius meetings. Yushchenko noted energy issues are one of the topical questions in the world, stressing his country`s intention to play an active role in Europe`s energy security.
President Yushchenko told of the documents that are to be signed.
President Ilham Aliyev said his Ukraine visit is successful. Azerbaijani leader pointed out he exchanged views with his Ukrainian counterpart about energy security issues. The Head of State stressed initiatives put forward in the Krakow summit had been successfully continued and developed.
Then, other Heads of States expressed their opinions on the issues under discussion.
