On the occasion of the Republic Day, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received congratulatory messages from a number of world leaders, including George Bush, President of the United States of America; Hu Jintao, Paramount Leader of the People’s Republic of China; Horst Kohler, President of Germany; General Pervez Musharraf, President of Pakistan; Heinz Fischer, Federal President of Austria; Pope Benedict XVI; Major General Michael Jeffery, Governor-General of Australia; Mary McAleese, President of Ireland; Pascal Couchepin, President of the Swiss Confederation; Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic; Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan; Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov, President of Turkmenistan; Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus; Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan; Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman; Jalal Talabani, President of Iraq.
