PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVED REPRESENTATIVES OF RUSSIAN COMMUNITY
Greeting the guests, Head of the Azerbaijan State said the Second Congress of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan would be a landmark event in the life of country. Noting that successful development in all fields is great contribution of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev the President said this serves the cause of peace, welfare and friendship atmosphere among all peoples residing in Azerbaijan.
Today, Heydar Aliyev’s policy in Azerbaijan continues and in all fields brings success and in the international affairs, President Ilham Aliyev said.
I am pleased that the Russian community develops in Azerbaijan, and actively work in all spheres. Touching the inter-ethnic problems, President of Azerbaijan said there was never such a problem in the Republic. And Azerbaijan, probably, is one of the countries of the former USSR where always has existed friendship, good relations, national and religious tolerance. Peace among the peoples living in Azerbaijan is basis for future development of Azerbaijan.
Then, President of Azerbaijan spoke of the opportunities established for the citizens of Russian nationality to take more active part in the socio-political life of the country. We always regarded the Russian language friendly, he stressed. In this, Azerbaijan could be example for other world counties, the neighbors.
Head of the Azerbaijan State congratulated the Russian community with successful work in Azerbaijan. He highly appreciated the role the Russian community plays in the socio-political life of Republic and wished success to the work of the Second Congress of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan.
Speaking at the reception, Chairman of the Russian Community, Member of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Mikhail Zabelin expressed gratitude for reception and kind words, and thanked on behalf of the representatives of the Second Congress of the Russian Community.
Chairman of the Russian community said that guests from Russia and representatives of Russian communities from other CIS countries have also been invited to the Congress.
At the reception, also were speaking Larisa Kovalyova, mother of the National Hero Yuri Kovalyov, deputy chairman of the Society Victor Tatarenko, director of Center of culture of the Russian community Svetlana Barinova who spoke of deep roots of interaction of the Russian and Azerbaijani national culture and traditions, as well as on contributions of the Community to the fraternal relations.
