It would be desirable to congratulate You and Azerbaijan people on the progress achieved within 10 years after signing of the contract concerning development of deposits "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli".
The “Contract of the century”, signed by us in palace of "Gulistan” with your late father Heydar Aliyev, was the most remembered event. I was very much pleased also with that, again having met with him in Baku in May of the last year, we have had exchange of opinions in connection with progress in our cooperation. The time when production from full-scale development of deposits "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli” will be received and export of oil on the world markets on the pipeline to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan is not far away. After that, as well as it was planned, it will be duly to be carried out and export of gas from deposit "Shahdeniz". These projects of world level are realization of the far-sighted power policy of your father, and BP is proud of the participation in them.
This development will bring to the Azerbaijan state great benefit. I believe, that the steps undertaken under your leadership in the field of maintenance of transparency of incomes, their use for creation of the scale, ramified economy will provide maximal use of this profit by citizens of your country. In the name of achievement of this purpose, BP remains devoted to continuation of partnership with You, your government and Azerbaijan people.
With impatience I wait for the meeting with you the next year in Baku on celebrations of “Early oil” on the occasion of the beginning of full-scale development of deposits or in case of your visit to the United Kingdom before this event.
