PRESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND RUSSIA TALK IN PRESENCE OF DELEGATIONS
After the meeting in private Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Dmitry Medvedev of Russia continued their talk in the presence of the two countries` official delegations.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said:
“Dear Dmitry Anatolyevich!
Dear guests!
I would like again to welcome you to Azerbaijan. We appreciate the fact that you are paying an official visit to Azerbaijan shortly after assuming office. It is an indicator of character and spirit of our relationship. This visit will strengthen the relations between our countries. Today we have discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral and regional character, and international relations. It is with great satisfaction that I want to mention that the results of our talks are very positive.
The relations between our countries are based on traditions and history, and are characterized as friendly, good-neighborly and strategic, that completely meets the interests of Azerbaijan and, I am sure, those of Russia as well. I am also convinced that this visit will be a success. All we have agreed on and planned, and the documents we are going to sign, will be implemented, and the relations between our countries will elevate to a new level. These relations will further be characterized as partnership, strategic and friendly, that would be completely in the interests of Azerbaijan. I am confident that this visit - you visited Azerbaijan before, but it is the first time you are here as the President - and its results will be positive, and it is going to be a good opportunity to be closer acquainted with our country, our city.

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said:
Dear Ilham Heydarovich!
Dear colleagues!
Azerbaijan is, of course, our strategic partner in the Caucasus. I am absolutely agree that we are bound up with both century-old history and the special character of our present-day partnership, very strong economic ties, that in fact help with resolving various problems. In this connection, I would like to mention that the objectives we have recently set to reach high - by current standards - level of trade, nearly $2 billion, are, in fact, close to be achieved. Even for the past four months, trade has grown almost by half. It means that existing potential is very good. It should be noted that it is not only energy resources but also intellectual products, it is what creates our countries` potential. That is why I consider this visit as a key one; I think today we have indeed discussed very important, complex, serious but very promising issues of our interaction, our cooperation in trade-economic and humanitarian spheres. I hope that our colleagues did not waste time, and now we will focus on some other issues. As a result, a number of new documents are expected to be signed to reflect the high level of our today’s cooperation, including our joint Declaration, which will be devoted to friendship and interaction between our countries and peoples.
