RECEPTION AT THE CABINET OF MINISTERS
Welcoming the visitor, head of the Azerbaijan government has emphasized great value of the first visit to our country of the head of the European Commission and has expressed gratitude to Mr. Romano Prodi for the all-round assistance rendered to Azerbaijan during the period of the independence. As Arthur Rasizadeh has emphasized, Azerbaijan is interested in integration into the European structures and is the unique country in region, which has in full returned the credits given by the European Commission. The Prime Minister of Azerbaijan has expressed hope for expansion of the further cooperation with this organization.
Speaking on the political stability which has been established in the country, successfully carried out economic reforms, the head of the government has noted the notable raise of level of GDP, volume of foreign investments. He has noted that the main problem for Azerbaijan remains unsettlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, speaking about various aspects of cooperation of Azerbaijan with this Organization, has noted that within the framework of the program “Policy of the European neighborhood” program begins a new stage of integration process.
Vice-Premier of the Republic Abid Sharifov, the representative of Azerbaijan in European Union Arif Mammadov took part at the reception.
