SEMINAR ON “EUROPEAN SOCIAL CHARTER” TAKES PLACE IN BAKU
Baku, 24 June (AZERTAC). A 2-day seminar on the “European Social Charter” organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Population, the Council of Europe Human Rights and Legal Affairs Main Directorate`s European Social Charter Department, took place here on 23 June.
Opening the seminar, Ilgar Rahimov, Deputy Minister of the Labor and Social Security of Population Ministry said the goal of the workshop was to discuss the clauses of the Revised European Social Charter not accepted by Azerbaijan, and seek opportunities for ratification of the country`s socio-economic development results in the coming years. At his words, socio-economic rights are the integral element of the human rights and should be focused widely.
Henrik Kristensen, Deputy Head of Department of the European Social Charter, spoke of the accomplishments reached in the field of human rights protection, stressed importance of the rights of labor migrant and the rights of family assistance.
Members of CoE European Committee of Social Rights Ms. Jarna Petman and Ms. S. Collonay Lehoski dwelled on the rights of fair labor conditions, security and hygienic requirements for labor conditions, the rights of economic protection and financial assistance in the Revised European Social Charter.
The workshop to last until 24 June was attended by representatives of state and governmental departments.
