SITTING OF AMERICAN-AZERBAIJAN WORKING GROUP ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION HELD
On the information received by correspondent of AzerTAj from the State Department, during discussions, the sides had exchange of views on a wide spectrum of questions of economic cooperation between two countries. In the center of attention was development of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan, the assistance allocated by the American side in the mentioned sphere. It has been marked that reforms in agriculture and bank sector, application of the law on combat against corruption and maintenance of transparency of the budget will speed up process of reduction of poverty in the country and its economic development. The working group has discussed also questions of management of the State Oil Fund, the assistance of US agencies to the said structure and the Ministry of Economic Development.
Mr. Avaz Alakbarov and Tom Adams have acted with specific proposals on questions of the agenda. The co-chairmen have expressed satisfaction with the level of economic cooperation between our countries, have emphasized that make active efforts directed on establishment of democratic market economy in Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of trip, Minister of Finance also has carried out a number of meetings with representatives of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Washington. On negotiations, discussed were the projects, which are carried out by Azerbaijan together with the mentioned financial structures, and prospects of cooperation.
