SPEAKER MEETS WITH AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN
The Speaker noted that though Azerbaijan-Japan relations have ancient history, the official visit to Japan of the Azerbaijani people’ s national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1998, gave a powerful impetus to development of cooperation between the two countries. Today, our countries are cooperating in a number of large-scale projects, Japanese companies are actively investing in the Azerbaijan’s economy; we highly valued both this fact and that our country is the only one in the South Caucasus where official Tokyo opened its Embassy, he said.
Touching on the Japan government’s assistance to Azerbaijan, Speaker Murtuz Alasgarov especially valued the role of the Mr. Fujuwara in this, extended congratulations on the occasion on conferring the “Glory” Order upon the Ambassador and wished him every success in the future.
The Japanese Ambassador thanked the Speaker for the kid words, and expressed deep[ gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan for the conditions created to him during his tenure, and to President Ilham Aliyev for the distinguished award. He noted as well that Japan is very interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan and will continue to render assistance to the country.
Mr. Fujuwara announced that the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan will start his activity in late October, and the relations between the two countries will be increasingly developed.
The diplomat finally stressed he is going to write a book about Azerbaijan, and that he would never forget the country.
